Ore Factory Squad Factory Layout Guide
A flexible factory layout method for separating intake, processing, buffers, storage, and shipping while making bottlenecks easy to see.
Use zones instead of one tangled line
The official game description centers on mining, unloading resources, processing them in machines, storing products, and completing contracts. A layout is easier to expand when those jobs occupy recognizable zones:
Mine / delivery
↓
Raw intake → first processing → buffer → final processing
↓
finished storage → shipping
This is a planning pattern, not a fixed recipe. The machines and products change; the need to see where material stops does not.
Keep intake accessible
Leave a clear approach for trucks and players. Put the first unloading point where a longer vehicle will not need to reverse through the production floor. If deliveries cross the shipping route, reserve enough space to separate them later.
Build a straight diagnostic spine
For a new product, begin with a readable line and place side branches only after the main flow works. A straight route lets you follow one unit from intake to storage and makes a missing connection obvious.
Put buffers at boundaries
The best buffer locations are between stages with different workloads—for example, after raw processing or before final assembly. Read the buffer:

| Buffer always empty | Upstream supply is too slow or interrupted |
| Buffer always full | Downstream processing or shipping is limiting flow |
| Both neighboring machines idle | Connection, routing, or power/configuration needs checking |
Reserve an expansion lane
Keep one side of the production spine open. You can then add a parallel machine, longer conveyor, or extra storage without demolishing the working side. Marking an empty lane costs space now but saves time when contracts scale.
Test before duplicating
Run the line long enough to see a repeated pattern. Record which machine spends time blocked or starved. Duplicate only the limiting section; copying the whole factory also copies its bottleneck.
