Limestone and Cement Production

Where limestone lives

Limestone is not on the Surface. You have to dig below the Surface layer to reach the pale bands where it forms. Once exposed, break it with the pick (the shovel will not touch it) and haul it up via your lift or forklift line.

Make limestone blocks first

Raw limestone is bulky and low-value. The first real step is turning it into Limestone Blocks:

1. Mine limestone with the pick.
2. Feed it to a crusher to get crushed limestone.
3. Press the crushed stone into Limestone Blocks at a block press.

Blocks are the unit contracts actually request, and they stack far denser than raw rock.

The Forming Press

The Forming Press is where blocks become cement. Load blocks in, set the cement recipe, and the press bonds them with the binder your lot provides. Keep the press fed — an idle press is the most common bottleneck in a cement line.

Calculate your cement demand

Do not guess the batch size. Before you start a run, check the contract:

• Note the cement quantity required.
• One Limestone Block yields a fixed amount of cement (check your press recipe).
• Divide the required cement by the per-block yield to get the number of blocks to pre-stage.

Staging exactly that many blocks means no mid-run shortage and no wasted overproduction sitting in the warehouse.

Reserve blocks for contracts

Cement contracts pay well, but they are timed. Protect your throughput:

1. Keep a reserve of finished Limestone Blocks so a new order can start immediately.
2. Route surplus blocks to storage, not to the press, once the active order is covered.
3. Never let the block press starve the cement press — buffer one layer of blocks between them.

Common mistakes

• Digging for limestone on the Surface and finding nothing — go below the Surface layer.
• Running the Forming Press without enough buffered blocks, then missing the deadline.
• Letting crushed limestone pile up because the block press is downstream and jammed.

Limestone and cement is a calm, predictable line once the blocks are buffered. Mine below the Surface, press blocks, feed the Forming Press from a reserve, and your cement contracts will ship on time every time.
